100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream Review

Not all eye creams are created equal.  100% Pure have outdone themselves when it comes to this product.  They have truly hit it out of the park with their Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream.

100% Pure Lip Creme Stick and Lip Glaze Review

It is such a joy now that my skin care routine is all ironed out that I can start truly delving into the world of green makeup.  I really do like playing and experimenting with makeup, but your skin is truly the canvas and so taking care of it and finding the right balance of skin care products is an absolute necessity for me before I can start thinking about makeup.

Lip products are one of those things that I have always liked, but I was hesistant to use them prior to going green because having the ingredients on my lips meant that I could ingest them and probably did.  I had no idea how scary my products were until I started doing my research, but now that I know better I will never go back.  I can deal with the lesser staying power because I know that they are safer.  Considerably safer.IMG_4334

100% Pure is one of my favourite companies (have you noticed?) but I haven’t given their lip products much of a try so far.  Up for review this time are the Lip Creme Stick in Perfect Naked Berry and their Lip Glaze in Velveteen.   Continue reading 100% Pure Lip Creme Stick and Lip Glaze Review

100% Pure Super Fruits Healthy Skin Foundation Revew

Aside from Jane Iredale’s Dream Tint Tinted Moisturizer (review) I haven’t really branched out into liquid foundations since going green.  I do like the Dream Tint, but it definitely does not offer full coverage,  nor is it vegan.  Naturally, I went looking to 100% Pure for makeup because so many of their products are vegan but they also use fruit and vegetable pigments rather than mineral based pigments to achieve the different shades.  There is so much less chance of lead contamination with makeup pigmented this way, rather than mineral based pigmentation.  Plus, it smells better!

100% Pure Eye Shadow Creamstick in Silk and Cotton Review

As we are heading into the colder months, my skin craves moisture.  The weirdest thing is that my eyelids have a tendency to develop eczema, which is not only itchy and painful but super inconvenient because I like to wear eye makeup! This creamstick works well in so many ways and doesn’t irritate my sensitive eye area one little bit!

100% Pure Satin Cream Eye Shadow in Tahiti Review

Some of you may know this already, but my eyelids are extremely sensitive and mineral shadows alone can sometimes be very irritating and case a severe case of eczema in which I can not wear eye shadow for a week or two after the one glorious night. I combat this by using cream shadows as a base or balms as primers. 100% Pure’s Satin Cream Eye Shadow in Tahiti is a super pretty neutral base colour that is working well for me so far.

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Ballerina Cream Blush Review

Now that I have tried cream blushes I rarely use the powdered form. My skin appreciates the extra hydration, and I find that they are just so much more natural looking when blended well. That being said, the Pot Rouge Blush from 100% Pure in Ballerina is far from a natural looking blush but not because of the pigment.

100% Pure Multistick in Peach Glow Review

100% Pure is a green beauty company that is unique in that all of it’s products are tinted using vegetable and fruit pigments rather than minerals to allow for as pure a product without potential contaminants as possible. Of course the downside to this is that the products have a bit shorter of a shelf life than mineral products, but that is a small price to pay for a high performing “pure” product! I really like my other multistick, but I couldn’t resist trying the lip and cheek tint by 100% Pure.

100% Pure Honey Almond Hand Buttercream

My hands have been crying out for moisture this winter/spring, especially at work where the environment is dry and I am constantly washing my hands. Who knows what’s in the lotion provided at work, but I’m not going there. It’s bad enough to think of what is in the hand sanitizer or harsh soap. Long story short, I choose to bring my own hand lotion, but I have pretty specific requirements for it: It must be fast absorbing, but last through a few hand washes before needing reapplication, can’t be too greasy, and must have a mild to non-existent scent. Does such a lotion exist? Continue reading 100% Pure Honey Almond Hand Buttercream

Compare-a Mascara

Ah the never ending quest for that holy grail of natural mascaras… I’ve tried a few, and although none have exclusive ‘holy grail’ status, they all have something great about them.  Here’s what I think:

I Love Fall Tag

Thank you so much, Nicole, from EcoChicBeautyDiva for the tag.  I am a huge fall fan, the colours, the crisp smelling air, the snuggly clothes and scarves (and in my city) the dusting of frost on the trees and grass that I wake up to every morning.  Ahhh, what a wonderful season!

Favourite Fall lip product? Usually I would have listed a berry shade as my answer to this question, but I have recently been introduced to a lovely, warm, burnt orange colour that is surprisingly flattering on all skin tones.  Purely You Minerals’ ochre lip balm not only looks fantastic is tastes like chocolate mint!  And it’s clean list of ingredients can’t be beat!
Favourite Fall Nail Polish? Hmmm, probably Benecos’ 5 free nail polish in deep plum.  It’s a dark almost black rich purple colour that I think is very pretty.  It definitely needs a good top coat, though.
Favourite Starbucks Fall Drink? I’m also not a huge Starbucks girl, but the drink that I’m ordering more right now is a 1/2 sweet Chocolate Chai Latte.
Favourite Fall Candle? I don’t really burn candles, but I use a hot plate to burn essential oils.  My current favourite blend is sandalwood and lavender.
Favourite Fall Scarf or Accessory? Scarves!  Definitely scarves! I have a few fun home-made ones that are my favourites, but then my lulu lemon scarf is a close second.
Haunted house, haunted hay ride, or haunted corn maze? I can’t remember the last time I went into a haunted anything…I don’t really get scared too easy, but I startle well so it’d probably be a lot of fun.  I went on a walking ghost tour of Dublin once and it was very cool!
Favorite Halloween movie? It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.  Snoopy’s just so darn cute!
Favorite candy to eat on Halloween? It used to be nibs, but now that I’m gluten free sweedish berries.
What did you dress up as for Halloween?! I wore my old west costume which kind of looks like the costume Jodie Foster wears in Maverick but in green.
What is your Favorite thing about Fall? Taking a walk with my man enjoying the colours of the leaves.

Thanks again for the tag, Nicole!  It was fun!
