This is it! My search for a solid cleanser is over!
I like to travel, but I don’t want to continue to haul pounds and pounds of products everywhere that have water as their main ingredient. I can get water where-ever I go, thank you very much. But I wanted a cleansing bar that didn’t strip my skin, but cleaned it well enough that I wouldn’t have to worry about clogging pores or washing several times to remove all my makeup. I have been using Pai’s cream cleanser (review) and I really like it, don’t get me wrong. The packaging was switched up a little while ago and I really don’t like it. I feel like a lot gets left in the bottle, and it is very difficult to get enough out of the pump to wash your face. Plus, it too has water as a main ingredient so it would have to factor in to my ziploc bag for carry-on liquids.
Rocky Mountain Soap Company makes a few complexion bars, but the Juicy Orange one caught my eye (and my nose). Marketed for oily/combination/problem skin, this bar would probably suit far more skin types than that as it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, or my dry patches.
The bar does require a fair bit of water to get the lather going. It then applied easily, and removes every last spec of dirt, environmental pollution and makeup on my face in just one wash. Yes, that includes eye makeup and mascara! Best of all, it doesn’t make my skin feel tight after washing. Granted I can’t go without applying a moisturizer or oil, but it doesn’t make me run from the sink to my table to start applying hydration.
The scent is divine, with all the right touches of sweet citrus. The ingredients can’t be beat, either! And with an EWG Rating of 0 you really can’t go wrong. I will definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out, but I have been trialing it since May and I still am working on the first sliver I cut off the bar. This sucker’s going to last me a long time.
