Soap Walla Deodorant Review

Although the Dr. Mist Hygiene Spray that I have been using as a natural deodorant has been working very well, I kept searching for something that’s a little bit more economical and would be better for travelling.  Even though the Dr. Mist spray is only $8 it doesn’t last too long.  My boyfriend especially was going through a fair amount of it and would have had to replace the deodorant bottle every three weeks or so if he was using it exclusively.  He’s not overly sweaty or fragrant or anything, but felt that he needed to apply it at least twice a day to get adequate odor control.  Because this is strictly a deodorant and not an antiperspirant as well, he also wasn’t comfortable with how much he was still sweating with it.  I didn’t experience problems like he did; I only had to apply it in the morning and I was good until the next day even with a workout.

The next product we tried was the cream deodorant from Soapwalla.  The Soapwalla website (soapwallakitchen.com) states:

Soapwalla’s Deodorant Cream is all natural and uniquely powerful, utilizing superfine vegetable powders and clays, as well as lavender, peppermint and tea tree essential oils to absorb moisture, inhibit bacteria, and ensure a long-lasting and highly effective experience. The frosting-like consistency allows for easy manual application and rapid absorption, and is ideal for all skin types.

Soapwalla’s Deodorant Cream is vegan and is made with the highest quality organic and food-grade ingredients. Our Deodorant Cream does not contain questionable additives such as sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens or harsh and harmful chemicals, petroleum, or aluminum compounds that are frequently found in commercial antiperspirants, and is NEVER tested on animals.

Soapwalla does not use aluminum zirconium in our Deodorant Cream; aluminum zirconium cause skin cells to swell and in turn pinch your sweat glands closed in order to keep them from releasing perspiration. Please therefore note that our Deodorant Cream is not an antiperspirant.

In the initial days of using this product my boyfriend struggled to find the correct amount to apply.  It spreads like a true body butter and so since it spread so easily he thought that less would be more.  This was still true in the end, and when he finally found the right amount he was set!  He is past the adjustment phase, but is still finding that he needs to apply this one twice a day as well.  Sure, he only had to apply his aluminum filled deodorant stick once a day, but at least this one is toxin free.  Our search continues, but he is enjoying this option better for now.  The smell, although it lists lavender, is a very gender neutral smell.  It starts off quite strong but settles down as soon as the product is absorbed into the skin.
